Get ready for the next Walk, Bike, and Roll to School Day!

Hello Harrington Community! The next Bike, Walk, and Roll to School date is May 1, 2024. We are encouraging families to use heart healthy and environmentally friendly alternatives to single occupancy vehicles on this date (and all days!). If you are interested in having your student walk to school on May 1 and/or interested in joining a more regular walk to school group in your neighborhood, please complete this form to express your interest. Our goal is to help connect families along similar routes to Harrington to encourage more students to walk to school.

What did the PTA do in the past few weeks?
The Science Fair

The Science Fair on March 15 was a lot of fun. It was attended by over 50 families and we had over 70 presentations. Kids were very excited and showcased their scientific experiments to the visiting scientists with so much passion and dedication. It was so great to see such amazing young minds and their talent. We want to thank all the volunteers, visiting scientists, school staff, and PTA members, for all their support and help.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our esteemed judges: Sayi Abi, Sirarpi Heghinian Walzer, Stacey Simiar, Michele Pratusevich, Elisabeth Piquet, Eric Ballard, and Jeff Disko. Your exceptional guidance and infectious enthusiasm have truly inspired our students. Thank you for your invaluable contribution and for making this event a remarkable experience for everyone involved.

Community Events & Activities
Youth Sunrise Parade - April 15

We are trying to increase participation in the Youth Sunrise parade ahead of the 250th anniversary and could really use your help. The Youth Sunrise parade and ceremony have been a town tradition since 1880 to celebrate our Independence. President Ford marched and attended the Youth Sunrise Parade and Ceremony in 1975. At the ceremony following the parade the Lions Club announces and awards the White Tricorn hat and the Minutemen award the Minuteman cane, and the Youth awards are also announced and awarded. This ceremony typically only takes half an hour and is outside on the Battle Green. We would like to get one group from each school to march in the morning parade. We also have the minutemen raise the American Flag and we have the voice of the Boston Bruins singing the National Anthem. New this year there is going to be recognition for the largest turnout, the best patriotic display and the best town spirit of the youth marching groups. It is only about an hour and a half total and the children can make a banner which they can carry to announce their group to the crowd and dress in their best Town spirit and or Patriotic Display. The Parade timing is chosen in order to have it start shortly after the re-enactment with plenty of time for the children to attend both but not have to go home in between and then to attend one of the pancake breakfasts after the ceremony.

When:  Monday, April 15, 2024

Time:    Line up by 7:15 am.    Step off at 7:30 am

Where: Line up at Cary Memorial Building Driveway

Parade will go through the center of town to the Battle Green for an 8 am Ceremony. The Ceremony will include the raising of the American Flag by the Lexington Minutemen, awarding of the White Tricorn Hat and the Minuteman Cane, announcement of scholarship recipients and TCC Youth Parade finalists, and more.

Please sign up here.

Parade Ambassadors Needed

Parade Ambassadors march in the parade and carry a sponsor’s banner. All volunteers receive a free tee shirt, and high school students receive credit for four hours of community service.
